Wild Fire: The “Neck Brace” Collar Design on the New NFL Uniforms irritates me.

Maybe this is a little bit of nit-picking, but the “neck brace” collar design on Nike’s new NFL uniforms is starting to bother me. The actual protective neck brace looked cool when Eric Dickerson used to wear it 25 years ago, but this neck collar design on Nike’s new NFL uniforms just looks a little weird.

It’s also kind of distracting, especially on a QB. Some of the new uniform designs like the Seattle Seahawks new uni’s look great, but this neck collar design degrades some of the other decent looking uniforms.

Some teams don’t have the neck brace collar design on their uniforms, and it seems they made a good decision to keep it off. Maybe it’ll just take some time for it to grow on me, but for now I just don’t care for it.

YES. This has been driving me nuts. Nike apparently thought it was a ^%#$ing brilliant idea to make football jerseys appear more like their soccer or rugby lines, apparently. Is that supposed to score style points and increase sales? No thanks. Otherwise it looks like they did a good job with increasing quality of construction, wearability, and functionality though.

I agree. I’m sure the uniforms are better in terms of functionality. But that neck brace thing gets on my nerves. Glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks so. Hopefully that part of the design will be gone next year. Thanks for the comment LD.

Neck brace collar device ? Make the uniforms look pretty . Goodell’s way of showing concern that the NFL does care about head trauma injuries to players . Unfortunately , they (NFL hierarchy) continue to pay it (issue) lip service , rather than doing anything proactive . Goodell is , and will always remain a putz !

I’m not a fan of Goodell either. And hopefully, Nike will change the collar design next season because it doesn’t seem to be going over well with fans. Thanks for the comment.
