A player like Ndamukong Suh should be nominated for Enforcer of the Year.  But hey tough guys can be Diva’s too.

Here are the Nominees for the 2013 Fan on Fire - Pro Football Awards: Diva of the Year

Instead of Putting together an “All” Team like a lot people do every year, last year I decided to put together my own awards list.  Not necessarily awarding the best statistically in any given position, but awards that matter to me, and maybe to some of you.

The Awards Nominees have been announced.  I now review the nominees in each category throughout the playoffs, and then on Super Bowl Eve I will announce the winners.  Last year it was all based on my opinion, but since I got such a good response I will include a poll on each review, and see who the “fans” think should win.  The poll results won’t be revealed until the winner is announced.

So here are the NOMINEES for the second annual 2013 Fan on Fire – Pro Football Awards “Diva of the Year”.

The “Don’t You know Who I am? – Diva” of the Year:  No, this award does not go to the top women’s wrestler, it goes to the most petulant, tempestuous, out of control player of the year.  And the Nominees in alphabetical order are:

  • Rashard Mendenhall, RBPittsburgh Steelers:  After being benched for fumbling in the Steelers game against the Cleveland Browns, Mendenhall failed to show up for the Steelers next game .  He was then suspended for one game by the Steelers for conduct detrimental to the team.  Mendenhall seemed to start the season off pretty well after returning from a torn ACL, but when fumbling problems ensued things started to go downhill.  Mendenhall has shown “Diva-like” tendancies before, as he drew scrutiny for criticizing people for celebrating the death of Osama Bin Laden on Twitter in 2011.
  • Ndamukong Suh, DTDetroit Lions:  Suh was Nominated in this category last season as well, and here he is again.  In 2011, Suh came under fire for stomping a player, and this season he drew scrutiny again for kicking Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub in the groin.  Suh claimed it wasn’t intentional, but video of the incident would suggest otherwise.  Many acknowledge Suh as a talented player, though maybe a bit of an underacheiver considering the accolades he came into the NFL with.  Some see Suh as a dirty player, and this incident of kicking another player in the groin only serves to fuel that speculation.

Last Years winner:  Albert Haynesworth

Suh is the epitome of class if you aspire to be a thug . LOL,LOL,LOL !!!

Personally , I only believe an @ss kicking is warranted when it’s long overdue !

Did ‘melo really think he could get in Garnett’s face and get away with it ! This ain’t the playground , he’s playing with the big dawgs , woof , woof !

‘melo acts tough , but he’s as soft as a baby’s @ss . Clay Aiken or Richard Simmons could make ‘melo flip the switch .

No one got voted in to the Hall of Shame ? What a surprise !!! LOL,LOL ,LOL

I know that times are hard but for what they’ve paid Sanchez , Vick and Carson Palmer , you could’ve got three Russell Wilson’s and a partridge in a pear tree .

    • http://fanonfiresportswire.com Fan On Fire_Maurice Barksdale

Sanchez might do well with a change of scenery, if he can get with the right coach. Sort of like Alex Smith did with Harbaugh.

      • http://tophatal.wordpress.com Alan aka tophatal

Last time I checked, there wasn’t an expansion franchise being sought in Mongolia or Guadalajara , Mexico . Leinart could join his fellow alums in Oakland . They’re stocking crappy quarterbacks there , by week .

        • http://fanonfiresportswire.com Fan On Fire_Maurice Barksdale

It’s a long shot, I agree. Sanchez will be lucky to get another chance to be a starter. However, I can see him settling into the role of journeyman backup quite nicely.

      • http://tophatal.wordpress.com Alan aka tophatal

And now look at Alex Smith , he’s now become ugly chick that no one wants to dance with at a party. Smith toiled in the league for six plus seasons honing his game . Gets injured , lo and behold , in comes Kaepernick and everyone wants to be his dance partner , while the chicks just want to be seen with him , for more than his tattoos .

        • http://fanonfiresportswire.com Fan On Fire_Maurice Barksdale

Alex Smith will be starting in the NFL next season for someone. The 49ers drafted Kaepernick to be their starter anyway.

I was hoping the Redskins would have drafted Kapernick last season, because he’s going to be a good one. Glad we have RGIII though.

          • http://tophatal.wordpress.com Alan aka tophatal

Smith will most certainly end up somewhere else . I hear Jacksonville is pretty nice all year round , that’s if you can take the rancid stench that’s emitted from the St Johns’ River .

If Kaepernick and the Niners lose this game , then the blame will be placed firmly on Harbaugh’s shoulders .

            Tophatal …..

It’s high risk and high reward in regards to Kaepernick. He might get them to the Super Bowl or he might get them bounced out early. Huge gamble, but I like that Harbaugh had the guts to roll the dice on it, and that’s part of what makes him such a good coach.

  • http://tophatal.wordpress.com Alan aka tophatal

I think we can agree , that there are only a handful or not more than seven, consistently good quarterbacks now playing in the NFL . The rest are simply there , to make up the numbers while making some money .

As for Sanchez , I hope he doesn’t end up being like JaMarcus Russell , Vince Young or Tim Couch !

    • http://fanonfiresportswire.com Fan On Fire_Maurice Barksdale

It’s not looking good for Sanchez. But if he can find the right situation, and he has the heart, then I think he may be able to resurrect his career.

Who gets to decide the winners from thesegroups?

    • http://fanonfiresportswire.com Fan On Fire_Maurice Barksdale

Each category review post will have a poll attached. If enough people vote, I’ll go with the poll results to determine the winners.

Last year I chose the winners because I didn’t have enough of a following to get very many people to help decide. But that’s starting to change.

And last year this ended up being one of the most popular things I did view wise, so I decided to do it again. Hopefully it’s something that will get more popular with each passing year.

So I hope the fans decide the winners, but ultimately it’s all in fun.

  • http://tophatal.wordpress.com Alan aka tophatal

    Maurice

It’s no longer a high risk reward concerning Colin Kaepernick , as he and Gore as a two man wrecking crew literally stymied and then killed off the Packers’ hopes .

Are there any Kaepenick doubters still remaining ?

    Tophatal ……

  • http://tophatal.wordpress.com Alan aka tophatal

Sanchez now has a better chance opening up for the Backstreet Boys or N Sync , than he does of becoming a full time starter in the NFL .

    Tophatal ………………….
