Alfred Morris came out of no where to have one of the best performances in the NFL this season.  Other unknowns blossomed into stars in 2012 too.

Here are the Nominees for the 2013 Fan on Fire – Pro Football Awards: “There’s that Man Again” Award

Instead of Putting together an “All” Team like a lot people do every year, last year I decided to put together my own awards list.  Not necessarily awarding the best statistically in any given position, but awards that matter to me, and maybe to some of you.

The Awards Nominees have been announced.  I now review the nominees in each category throughout the playoffs, and then on Super Bowl Eve I will announce the winners.  Last year it was all based on my opinion, but since I got such a good response I will include a poll on each review, and see who the “fans” think should win.  The poll results won’t be revealed until the winner is announced.

So here are the NOMINEES for the second annual 2013 Fan on Fire – Pro Football Awards The “There’s That Man Again” Award.

The “There’s that Man Again” Award:  Goes to the player who you never heard of, that’s suddenly all over the field making plays, and you wonder why he’s not on your team.  And the Nominees in alphabetical order are:

  • Stevie Brown, S - New York Giants – A seventh Round draft pick in 2010 by the Oakland Raiders, and was also with the Carolina Panthers and the Indianapolis Colts before joining the Giants.  He is now one of the top safeties in the NFL.

  • Alfred Morris, RB- Washington Redskins:  A sixth round draft pick by the Washington Redskins in 2012 and now rushed for 1,613 yards and 13 TD’s.

  • Russell Wilson, QB - Seattle Seahawks:  A third round draft pick by the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson emerged as a leader in his rookie season, and has a chance to become one of the top QB’s in the NFL moving forward.  Many teams with QB problems could have drafted him and didn’t.

Top notch plays and players have been on display this season .

Other than the big game itself , the NFL Draft should prove to be really interesting !

The draft will be big as well as free agency. Lots of teamshave many holes to fill, and the NFL off season becomes more important with each passing year.

For me it’s all about what Belichick intends to do in the draft , in terms of defensive players . The defense simply wasn’t consistent enough during the regular and postseason .
Do you actually believe A Rod at present , concerning the latest allegations leveled against him ?
        Tophatal …….

I don’t see how anyone can believe A-Rod any more. He’s already been caught using PED’s, so it comes as no surprise to me if he was still using them.
I think the Patriots may need to move up higher in the first round to get an impact player on defense. They constantly draft at the back end of the first round, and while they are getting some good value with the players they pick, it’s rare that they’ve gotten someone who can make an immediate impact for them on defense.
